Alberta Approved Day Home

Bright Eyes Day home is currently doing interviews for a January 2026 opening. I am considering both full time and part time options. Government Grants are available to all families. Please note I will not be accepting any new school aged children.

Quality Child Care

I provide a fun, safe, family like environment for children to spend their days. I respect all children for the unique individuals that they are. I build strong relationships with the children and families in my day home through honesty and trust.

My play-based day home is child-led, meaning that everything we do is based on the interests of the children. I strongly believe that children are intrinsically motivated to learn through play. Children are encouraged to freely explore and engage with their environment.

Multi-aged group settings provide many benefits to all children. The younger children can engage with and learn from older more experienced children. This supports their social, emotional, cognitive, and language development. The older children get to practice their leadership and nurturance skills. Older children quite often gain a deeper understanding of concepts by teaching and role-modelling for the younger children.

Please note that my day home is pet friendly, we have one small dog.

Education and Experience

I have been told for many years that I have a gift working with children. I am a mother to three children; Adelle who is 18 years old, Lily who is 15 years old, and Samson who is 13 years old.

I began my day home in February 2008 with Davar Child Care Society and as such I am able to provide subsidy to those families who qualify. In addition to subsidy all families with children under 6 years old will also receive a deduction to their fees thanks to the new Grant money.

I have my diploma in Early Childhood Education, Level 3 and completed FLIGHT: Early Learning and Care Framework course offered through MacEwan University. I regularly attend professional development workshops and have also been leading some professional development workshops in conjunction with Davar Child Care Society.

In May 2016 I recieved 2 awards:
  • The School of Community Studies and Creative Technologies Humanitarian Award for "demonstrating the ideals of compassion and concern for others."
  • The School of Community Studies and Creative Technologies Career Award for "demonstrating superior achievement and a positive educational attitude."

Location

Bright Eyes Day Home is conveniently located in the community of Southwood SW, Calgary. My home is a three-storey duplex with a fully fenced backyard. The backyard has a deck, a small play structure, and a play house.

I do not drive with the day home but that doesn't stop us from exploring the many parks, green spaces, and libraries within walking distance. During the summer months we spent the majority of our time off site. Our favourite places to hang out in the summer are Fish Creek Park, Prince's Island Park, Riley Park, and playgrounds in Southwood, Canyon Meadows, and Haysboro.

I currently provide care for children of a variety of ages. Due to ratio regulations I generally only have availability for children not yet in school full time until 2:30 pm.

Bright Eyes Day Home can be easily reached by anyone living in the following communities: Haysboro, Canyon Meadows, Braeside, Oakridge, Cedarbrae, Woodbine, Woodlands, Palliser, Pump Hill, Willow Park, and Acadia. Southwood is located just off of Macleod Trail so would also work well for anyone who lives in the south and works downtown.
